QMA Instructor: Sasha Turgeon

Sasha started learning how to play the violin under the tutelage of Olga Medvedeva at age seven in his hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario. While in Thunder Bay, Sasha played in the Thunder Bay Symphony Youth Orchestra where he held a variety of positions including principal second violin, assistant concertmaster, and concertmaster. Sasha has performed in the Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts where he received many scholarships and prizes including the George E. Lister Memorial Tray for the senior strings division. Currently, Sasha is studying the violin under Dr. Oleg Pokhanovski at the University of Manitoba, where he received a full scholarship. Sasha enjoys teaching people how to play the violin and seeks to have a holistic approach in his teaching that combines violin musicality and technique while understanding how different students learn.
