QMA Instructor: Victoria Turgeon
Victoria has been playing the violin since the age of seven and piano since the age of twelve. Her primary teacher while growing up was Olga Medvedeva. While in her hometown of Thunder Bay, she held the positions of assistant concertmaster and concertmaster during her time in the Thunder Bay Symphony Youth Orchestra. She was also a frequent competitor in the Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts, where she received scholarships and first prizes. In 2018, she performed as a soloist with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra. She is currently in her third year of studying the violin at the University of Manitoba with Dr. Oleg Pokhanovski. Upon entry into the university, she received the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music Undergraduate Scholarship and the Val Simanavicius Memorial Scholarship Entrance Scholarship. Victoria enjoys playing her instruments and passing her knowledge of violin playing on to others. When she is not studying, practising, or teaching, she likes to go on canoe trips with her family and friends, read, and laugh with others.
